  This dynamic workshop examines state-of-the-art self-management interventions for diverse populations. Interdisciplinary innovations include web-based exercise counseling for teenage girls, music therapy for women with breast cancer, obesity prevention through instituting table feeding with infants, targeted office visit protocols for adults with co-morbid conditions, and adapted elementary school curriculum on asthma management.

  The purpose of this pre-conference workshop is to increase awareness among the members of MNRS on the issues and challenges of international nursing research and the types of models used to build collegial networks around the world that have been successful in facilitating collaboration among peers while building the capacity of individuals and institutions.

WS5 - What do I do after my doctorate? Mar 28, 2008 3:00 PM
  Mechanisms of support for post doctoral education will be presented including federally supported mechanisms (T32s, F32, K12s, and various individual K mechanisms through respective NIH institutes), as well as sources of support from specific foundations (John A. Hartford Foundation, Oncology Nursing Society). A series of 7 presentations will be made over the 120 minutes. The pre-conference objectives will be addressed through presentation by post doctoral mentors and current and previous post doctoral awardees. These presentations will allow different perspectives of the post doctoral experience including activities and pros and cons involved in the experience.
