Hotel & Travel Information - Mardi Gras
While we are fortunate that the Astor Crowne Plaza is located on the downtown parade route for Mardi Gras, access to the hotel for guests can become challenging over the Mardi Gras holiday (Friday 3/4/11 - Tuesday 3/8/11).
Please click here to view the parking procedures and parade schedule for Mardi Gras.
Traffic into the Canal Street area is in the hands of the New Orleans Police Department. The airport shuttle and taxi cabs are in contact with authorities as to the best routes to get you from the airport to the hotels. If you are arriving during the middle of a parade, transportation will get as close as possible to the hotel, but attendees may have to walk a couple of blocks.

About New Orleans
Unlike any other North American city, New Orleans inspires and intrigues. The birthplace of jazz, home to some of the greatest restaurants (and service) in the world, an oasis of history and charm on the Mississippi, New Orleans is all that and more.
Mardi Gras – March 8, 2011
In New Orleans, a town famous for its French Quarter and Bourbon Street, for hot Cajun and Creole cuisine and or cool Dixieland jazz, one event surpasses them all as the city’s legendary signature piece - Mardi Gras! It’s a season of revelry and romance, of madness and music, of parades and parties, of comic costuming in the streets and grandiose private masquerade balls. Mardi Gras is a time when the gaudy and the gorgeous all come together or one gigantic blowout. From the regal to the ridiculous, the New Orleans Mardi Gras has it all!
