Overviews the history and pragmatic educational and clinical applications of Autogenic Training(AT) including the guidelines for non-indications, contra-indications and relative-contraindication. AT has parallels to yoga and meditation It can be seen as a structured biofeedback mindfulness meditation approach. It is a method for influencing the autonomic nervous system. AT practice has a positive impact on a number of non-conscious body systems including immune, endocrine, peptide and autonomic nervous systems. It is used around the world by competitive athletes, physicians, therapists and clients to restore physical, mental and emotional processes that are disregulated. Autogenic Training
(AT) is the foundation of many self-regulation approaches and is much more than simply the 6 basic exercises. It includes Autogenic Neutralization, Meditative Exercises, Autogenic Modification,
and Autogenic Feedback Training
. The presentation will summarize how to teach and practice and autogenic training.

Erik Peper, PhD
is an international authority on biofeedback and self-regulation. He studied Autogenic Therapy (AT) with Wolfgang Luthe, MD and integrates AT with educational and clinical applications of biofeedback. He is Professor at San Francisco State University. He is President of the Biofeedback Foundation of Europe (BFE) and past President of AAPB. He holds Senior Fellow (Biofeedback) certification from BCIA. He has a biofeedback practice at BiofeedbackHealth (www.biofeedbackhealth.org). He received the 2011 BFE Educator Award for his ongoing contribution and teaching in the field of applied psychophysiology and biofeedback and the 2013 Distinguished Scientist Award from AAPB. He is an author of numerous scientific articles and books His most recent books Fighting Cancer-A Nontoxic Approach to Treatment
. His research interests focus on psychophysiology of healing, illness prevention and optimizing health with biofeedback.
