Save the Date
The Association for Applied Psychophysiology & Biofeedback (AAPB), the pioneering professional society devoted to education and research in this field, will be hosting their 45th Annual Scientific Meeting in Savannah, Georgia on March 19-22, 2014 at the Hyatt Regency Savannah. Please reserve the dates and make sure to attend the entire meeting. You won't want to miss the opportunity to attend practical workshops, hear from leading clinicians and researchers, and check out the latest equipment. Stay tuned for more details as the program takes shape and please see below for the opportunity to submit your research by displaying a poster!
This year, scientific meeting sessions will be categorized into the following tracks:
Basic Science (All Levels): Applied Psychophysiology and Biofeedback are objective and evidence based fields. They are grounded in an understanding of several related disciplines; neurophysiology, neuroanatomy, cognitive psychology, neuropsychology, cardiovascular physiology, respiratory physiology, public health and others. AAPB supports and encourages research that contributes to the development and growth of applied psychophysiology and biofeedback and the program committee is seeking quality research from any discipline linked to biofeedback or applied psychophysiology. These submissions should focus on underlying mechanisms and may be experimental or descriptive or literature reviews. An example of a potential submission could be a study on changes in plasma levels of circulating stress hormones in response to specified environmental events. Another example could be a comparison of different types of instrumentation in measuring abdominal excursion and respiration patterns.
Clinical Interventions and Optimal Performance: This track will be targeted for clinicians. We are looking for submissions that provide evidence for successful biofeedback training options. The presentations can involve healthy patients (optimal performance) or patients with clinical problems. We welcome case studies as well as well designed clinical research. If you have been using innovative techniques and getting good results, we would encourage you to submit some case studies. We also encourage our members who are conducting formal research studies to consider presenting your findings.
Hot Topics: This track will feature presentations focused on new ideas, technological advances, challenges and new applications. This track will provide a venue for more speculative thinking as well as information on developments from other disciplines that could impact the way we conduct biofeedback. In 2011, we were able to bring in a speaker from a company developing electronic devices embedded in an ultra-thin, flexible substrate that could be applied like a temporary tattoo. We will be looking for other new ideas and approaches that could create new opportunities in our field.
We hope to see you in Savannah in March!
We want to hear from you! All poster abstracts must be submitted online no later than 11:59 p.m. ET, Monday, November 18, 2013. Each submitted abstract will be blind reviewed by biofeedback professionals. The AAPB Program Planning Committee will accept or reject abstracts based on the reviews. Notifications will be emailed the week of December 16, 2013 on the status of your submission. Please contact AAPB with any questions at (800) 477-8892 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Poster abstracts will be reviewed based on the following criteria:
As you allocate your organization’s sponsorship/exhibiting dollars, please consider that over 275 researchers, educators and clinicians from around the world, who focus on biofeedback, will be in Savannah, Georgia for AAPB’s 45th Annual Scientific Meeting, March 19-22, 2014.
Partnering with AAPB gives you access to a concentrated audience of scientists specifically engaged in biofeedback and offers many other key opportunities, including high visibility, hospitality and networking. Our sponsorship levels are designed to help you maximize your organization’s educational interests and sales benefit. Additionally, we can customize a package best suited for your goals.

The Association for Applied Psychophysiology and Biofeedback is approved by the American Psychological Association to offer continuing education for psychologists. AAPB maintains responsibility for the program.
Looking for Handouts?
Only workshop handouts were emailed to attendees, as they were available to workshop registrants only. If you attended a workshop and did not receive the handout, please contact Marissa Frost at email@example.com.
To see if any of the breakout sessions you attended have handouts posted online, click here. While speakers are encouraged to provide online handouts, it is not required. It is the speaker's choice whether or not to provide them.
