In February 2009, the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health ("HITECH") Act of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act ("ARRA") broadened the scope of the HIPAA Security and Privacy Rules, greatly increasing the regulatory risk to health care organizations. ARRA also mandated additional regulations, guidance and reports to be released by mid-February 2010. This webinar will summarize the latest multitude of changes, provide meaningful understanding of your specific risks and how to mitigate them, as well as help to direct your audit program.
Learning Objectives:
At the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Understand the new laws, as well as changes to existing laws and regulations, imposed by ARRA last year and this year
- Identify your highest risk areas, as evidenced by enforcement activity, to help determine where to most effectively focus auditing and monitoring resources
- Appreciate the criticality of auditing HIPAA as part of your organizationŐs compliance program
- Identify the specific challenges of auditing the HIPAA Security requirements
- Understand how to implement targeted and detailed IT audit controls
- Identify additional regulatory changes that are yet to come

Prerequisites: Basic familiarity with the HIPAA Privacy and HIPAA Security Rules is required as an overview of the Rules and updated changes will be presented but not an in-depth explanation.
