The program will cover increasing OIG audits and resulting financial penalties for lack of compliance tied to hospitals' correctly submitting, tracking, and when applicable sending manufacturers device warranty credits back to CMS. The audits are finding that many hospitals do not have adequate systems and processes in place to meet compliance requirements in this area, resulting in over payments by Medicare.

Peter I. Casady, President/CEO, Champion Healthcare Technologies
Peter I. Casady has over 28 years of experience in field sales and distribution in the medical device field. In 2006, after seeing first-hand the costly gaps in managing inventory within hospitals and through his manufacturers, he and Tom Casady created Champion Healthcare Technologies to create solutions like UDITracker® to address this pervasive need. He has been a speaker at the FDA's annual UDI Conference, GS1 Connect and the AHRMM (Association for Resource and Materials Management) annual conference, where he presented client case studies. He is widely published in leading industry publications, including Modern Healthcare, Becker's, Healthcare Executive Insight, RFID Journal, and the Journal of Strategic Supplies and Services (AHRMM). He published a white paper and hosted a public briefing for industry and media, 'How Hospitals Can Maximize the Value of Unique Identification in Medical Device Management'.
