It's almost
time for "Going to Kansas City"!
Several members
have asked for more information about our fundraising
activities. Please read on to get involved.
Silent
Auction
Items donated by members and friends, and some items purchased
just for these events will be available for purchase. How does this
work? A bid sheet is placed by each item. You write in your name by
the amount you are willing to pay. You can bid as many times as you
like. Whoever has the top bid when the Auction closes, wins the item,
pays for it and takes it home. If you want to be sure you get the
item, you can at any time do a "Buy it Now" by paying that
price listed on the bid sheet.
Hours for
the Auction:
Opens for those attending the FUNdraiser at 7:00pm
Opens for all attendees on Saturday, April 10 at 8:00am
The auction will
close at the Host School's Reception on Saturday evening.
Boutique
Items donated as above and sold at a fixed price. Purchase and take
away.
FUNdraiser
Talent Show
Acts will be performed by those schools and individuals who
volunteered in response to calls in MNRS Matters. The act receiving
the most votes in dollars will take home, for the year, the wonderful
MNRS Talent Show trophy, a musical roller coaster.
Please come prepared with cash, checkbook, or credit card to register
your votes. For additional fun, a Trivia contest will be held between
performers.
Individual tickets, packs of tickets, or tables can be ordered ahead
of time, or purchased at the Conference.
The Show starts at 8:00pm, but you can enter the Ballroom at 7:00pm,
if you'd like. It is a wonderful opportunity to support the research
grants that MNRS awards to its members, and have a fun evening with
lots of laughter.
A few members have asked about the food. It is a dessert reception,
so plan on an early dinner prior to the Show. We can not serve
a meal, because with the price of hotel food, we could not raise any
funds to support the grant program, unless we increased the price of
the tickets.
MNRS has a wonderful record of awarding grants through a rigorous
peer review process. These small grants enable our members to support
dissertation work or pilot studies, at the same time receiving
recognition for being funded through a competitive process. These
grants are made possible through dues, conference fees, donations,
and the funds we raise with these activities.
Please support grants for your colleagues by donating
and
participating in these events!
