Announcing an
Additional MNRS Seed Grant!
Thanks to all who contributed
through the Silent Auction, the FUNdraiser, the geocaching event, Honor a
Researcher, and donations to the MNRS Foundation. You made it possible to
secure the needed funds to add a NEW Seed Grant to be awarded at the
2010 conference!!!
Now we will be able to award a
total of four grants!
The Seed Grant program began with
MNRS awarding just one Grant, then two, and about 3 years ago increased it
to three. All of these were funded from income from dues and conference
fees.
With the launch of the MNRS
Foundation, the Seed Grant program was moved to the Foundation. MNRS is the
primary benefactor and continues to fund about one-half of the grants, as
well as provide support for the operating expenses of the Foundation.
The Foundation was set up to raise
more money for grants, and we're so pleased to celebrate this success with
you — made possible only because MNRS members believe in the importance of
research and are willing to help support it.
The importance of the Seed Grant program
is demonstrated by comments from two recipients below:
"The MNRS Seed Grant enabled me to collect additional
data from low income urban youth that served as preliminary findings for an
R01 submission..." Colleen Corte, PhD, RN
"Findings from my MNRS Seed
Grant provided the basis for further investigations of Alzheimer's Disease
caregivers in the process of nursing home placement..." Olimpia Paun, PhD, APRN, BC
Hats off to all of us!! And let's
work toward funding even more grants to our members next year.
