Are you talented?

 

The FUNdraiser was such a success at the MNRS Annual Conference in Minneapolis that we will be hosting the 2nd Annual Talent Show.

 

The winners from last year, University of Minnesota will be vying to hold onto the trophy for another year.

 

Are you interested in participating? Send a description of your act to Sally Kittredge.

 

To have your act considered, please include: the contact person for the act, email address, phone number and the school you will be representing. Acts this year will be limited to 4 minutes.

Call for Award Nominations

Every year, MNRS presents awards to selected members of the Society who have made significant and notable contributions to the field of nursing through research.

 
The deadline for nominations for all awards is December 10, 2009.


Lifetime Achievement Award: This award recognizes an MNRS member who has significantly advanced the profession of nursing either through an extensive program of research or creation of environments where research can flourish, and whose distinguished career yielded outstanding and noteworthy accomplishments.

2009: Virginia Tilden, DNSc, RN, FAAN, University of Nebraska Medical Center
2008: May Wykle, PhD, RN, FAAN, FGSA, Case Western Reserve University

MNRS/John A. Hartford Foundation Award: The purpose of this award is to recognize MNRS members who have demonstrated outstanding leadership in geriatric nursing science, and who have impacted quality of care for older adults in the MNRS region through their scholarship and mentorship.

2009: Shirley M. Moore, PhD, RN, FAAN, Case Western Reserve University
2008: Janet Specht, PhD, RN, FAAN, University of Iowa

Harriet H. Werley New Investigator Award: This award recognizes the contribution of a new investigator who has conducted nursing research that has the potential to enhance the science and practice of nursing.

2009: Holli DeVon, PhD, Loyola University
2008: Cindy Anderson, PhD, WHNP, IBCLC, University of North Dakota and Barbara Rakel, PhD, RN, University of Iowa
 

Distinguished Service Award: This award recognizes an MNRS member who has demonstrated dedicated service and an untiring commitment of furthering the development of the organization and its members. This service has been demonstrated through donated time, influential leadership and sustained service to MNRS.

2001: Beverly J. McElmurry, EdD, FAAN, University of Illinois 

Distinguished Contribution Award: The purpose of this award is to recognize the contribution of a member who has conducted or promoted research, which has enhanced the science and practice of nursing in the MNRS region.

2009: Keela Herr, PhD, RN, FAAN, AGSG, University of Iowa
2008: Sandra Ward, PhD, RN, FAAN, LP, University of Wisconsin-Madison

Senior Scientist Program

Now accepting online nominations!

 

The Senior Scientist Recognition Program provides recognition by peers for members' scholarly achievements, mentorship, and service and represents the highest class of membership.

 
This program recognizes that there are many outstanding researchers whose accomplishments are noteworthy and vital to building the knowledge base in nursing, yet are not recognized regionally or nationally for their work.

 
Individuals may self-nominate or be nominated by a peer. Click here for the Senior Scientist status requirements.

 
Applications are due on December 10, 2009.

Pediatric Nursing Research Section

The Pediatric Section is now accepting applications for the following 2010 awards:

  • Dissertation Award
  • Senior Researcher Award

The nomination form and applications are due by February 1, 2010.
