This year’s theme is Biofeedback and Neurofeedback: The Future of Integrative Health and Performance. The goal of this conference is to bring together clinicians, physicians, researchers and professionals involved with biofeedback, applied psychophysiology, neurofeedback, bio and neuro-technologies to exchange information, ideas, and scientific data and to share experiences. We hope you will join us in Orlando!

Our dynamic schedule of presenters and subject matter categorization was designed with YOU -applied psychophysiology and biofeedback professionals - in mind. At the meeting, you will:

  • Learn effective practices, practical ideas, and innovative solutions in sessions covering hot topics, basic science, clinical Interventions, interpersonal communications and optimal performance
  • Connect with vendor partners who offer a wealth of information on new products, services and solutions for your needs
  • Engage with professionals who share common interests

AAPB members receive remarkably discounted registration rates for the Annual Meeting, but can save even more by registering before or on Feb. 18, 2018. This year we have also added new registration rates for our VA attendees, Long-term Members and International attendees.

The full schedule was developed so that you may plan your own "learning path" across our three specialized educational tracks, allowing you to access information that is most relevant to your situation. The more than 50 sessions will provide attendees with 37 CE credits.

Come to Orlando, Florida April 11-14, 2018, and join an international network of individuals, with similar interests and experiences, which will help you to expand your network of influence and lead you to better strategies, processes and opportunities!

The meeting sessions are categorized into the following tracks, to allow you to best select the sessions that are most relevant to you:

Basic Science (All Levels):
Applied Psychophysiology and Biofeedback are objective and evidence based fields. They are grounded in an understanding of several related disciplines; neurophysiology, neuroanatomy, cognitive psychology, neuropsychology, cardiovascular physiology, respiratory physiology, public health and others. AAPB supports and encourages research that contributes to the development and growth of applied psychophysiology and biofeedback. These sessions are focused on underlying mechanisms and may be experimental or descriptive or literature reviews.

Clinical Interventions and Optimal Performance:
This track is targeted for clinicians. These sessions provide evidence for successful biofeedback training options. Innovative techniques and getting optimal results will be featured.

Hot Topics:
This track will feature presentations focused on new ideas, technological advances, challenges and new applications. These sessions will provide a venue for more speculative thinking as well as information on developments from other disciplines that could impact the way we conduct biofeedback.

2018 Keynote Highlights

  • J. David Creswell, PhD, Director of the Health and Human Performance Laboratory, Carnegie Mellon University, will present a keynote lecture on Mindfulness Interventions and Their Effects on the Brain, Physiology and Health.

Over the last two decades there has been significant interest in mindfulness training interventions for health. But little is known about how these interventions, which train a mindset of being open and receptive to present moment experience, might affect health over time. In this talk, Dr. Creswell will describe current mindfulness intervention approaches, and a series of studies he has conducted that depict potential brain and physiological stress reduction pathways linking these interventions with a broad range of health outcomes.

Dr. Creswell's will share the science and application of this affordable, evidence-based approach for fostering stress resilience.
  • Rusty Shelton, Founder and CEO of Shelton Interactive, will present a keynote lecture on writing, publishing, and social media for healthcare professionals.

The goal of this talk is to empower physicians, psychologists, social workers, mental health counselors, and other healthcare professionals to expand their visibility and influence in healthcare through new media. The audience will learn how to make the most of online communication channels, and sharpen the ability to communicate their body of work. Rusty's program is among the highest rated Harvard Medical School CME courses.
  • Hasan Asif, MD, MD, Founder and Medical Director, Brain Wellness Center will deliver a neurofeedback-focused presentation and
  • Stuart Donaldson, PhD, licensed psychologist with areas of interest including pain, pain management, psychophysiology, and computers in psychology. Dr. Donaldson will speak on the investigation and biofeedback approach to concussions to round out our featured keynote presenters.
